Ahuzzam

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Judah · H0275
Old Testament

Ahuzzam was the son of Ashhur and his wife Naarah, from the tribe of Judah.

Ahuzzam was the firstborn son of Ashhur and his wife Naarah, a descendant of Judah through Hezron (1 Chronicles 4:6). His father Ashhur is described as the founder or leading settler of Tekoa, a town in the hill country of Judah that later became the hometown of the prophet Amos. Ahuzzam and his brothers—Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari—appear as sub-clans or founding families of the region south of Jerusalem. He is known exclusively from this genealogical notice and plays no recorded role in the narrative history of Israel.
