Anthothijah

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Benjamin · H6070
Old Testament

Anthothijah was a descendant of Benjamin, mentioned in the genealogy of the tribe of Benjamin.

Anthothijah was a descendant of Benjamin, a son of Shashak, listed in the genealogy of the tribe in 1 Chronicles 8:24–25. He is one of eleven sons of Shashak recorded as heads of ancestral houses in Jerusalem. The genealogy of Benjamin in 1 Chronicles 8–9 reflects the tribe's settlement in and around Jerusalem from the early monarchy through the post-exilic period. His name, meaning 'answers of Yahweh' or 'responses from Anathoth,' may reflect a connection to the priestly city of Anathoth. He appears in no narrative episode and is known solely from this genealogical list.
