Elmadam

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Judah · G1678
New Testament

Elmadam was an ancestor of Jesus Christ, mentioned in the genealogy in Luke's Gospel.

Elmadam appears in the Lukan genealogy of Jesus (Luke 3:28) as an ancestor of Joseph in the line of David, placed in the post-exilic period of Judah's history. He is known solely from this genealogical reference, where he is listed as the son of Er and the father of Cosam. His position in Luke's account reflects the evangelist's effort to trace Jesus' ancestry through the full sweep of Israel's history back to Adam.
