New Testament

Eunice was the mother of Timothy and a Jewish believer.

Eunice was the mother of Timothy and the daughter of Lois, both of whom Paul commends for their 'sincere faith' that shaped Timothy from childhood (2 Timothy 1:5). She was a Jewish woman who had married a Greek man (Acts 16:1), and her faithful instruction of her son in the Hebrew scriptures laid the foundation for his later ministry as Paul's closest associate. Her example of intergenerational faith transmission is held up in the Pastoral Epistles as a model for the Christian household.
