Hothir

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Levi · H1956
Old Testament

Hothir was one of the fourteen sons of Heman, appointed by King David to lead worship in the temple.

Hothir was one of fourteen sons of Heman the singer, all of whom were appointed by King David to lead the musical worship of the temple (1 Chronicles 25:4). Heman's sons were regarded as the king's seers through music, and they were assigned twenty-one divisions by lot for the temple service (1 Chronicles 25:28). Hothir's role as a temple musician places him within one of the most carefully organized dimensions of Israelite worship, where music was understood as an act of prophecy and praise before God.
