Jannai

Jannai was an ancestor of Jesus Christ listed in the genealogy of Luke 3:24, appearing in the line between Melchi and Joseph (father of the genealogy's Joseph). Luke's genealogy traces Jesus' lineage through a different branch of the Davidic family than Matthew's account, and figures like Jannai represent the many generations of ancestors preserved in the family records of the post-exilic period. His individual life and deeds are not recorded in Scripture beyond his place in the messianic lineage.
