Medan was a son of Abraham and his concubine Keturah.
Medan was a son of Abraham and his wife Keturah, listed among the six sons she bore him (Genesis 25:2; 1 Chronicles 1:32). He is Abraham's half-brother of Midian and is associated with the Arabian trading peoples related to the patriarchal family. Some scholars have proposed a connection between Medan and the Medanites mentioned in Genesis 37:36, though the text uses 'Midianites' and 'Medanites' with apparent interchangeability in the Joseph narrative. Abraham sent Medan and his brothers eastward with gifts to separate them from Isaac's covenant line.
