Peter's unnamed mother-in-law, whom Jesus healed of a fever.

Peter's mother-in-law, unnamed in all three Gospel accounts, was suffering from a severe fever when Jesus visited Simon's house in Capernaum (Matthew 8:14–15; Mark 1:30–31; Luke 4:38–39). Jesus healed her immediately — in Mark and Luke by rebuking the fever, in Matthew by touching her hand — and she at once rose and began to serve them. The healing is one of Jesus's earliest individual miracles recorded in the synoptic tradition and demonstrates his power over disease in a domestic setting.
