Tiras was a son of Japheth and grandson of Noah, listed among the nations descended from Noah after the flood.
Tiras was a son of Japheth and grandson of Noah, listed in the Table of Nations in Genesis 10:2 and 1 Chronicles 1:5. He is grouped with his brothers Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, and Meshech as the progenitors of the peoples of the ancient world descended from Japheth. Scholars have proposed various identifications of Tiras, including connections to the Tyrsenians (Etruscans), the Thracians, or other Aegean and Mediterranean peoples, though no consensus has been reached.
