Study Note
'These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings.' The double title appears also in Revelation 19:16 and derives from Deuteronomy 10:17 and 1 Timothy 6:15, applying the supreme lordship formulae of Israel's God directly to the Lamb. The reversal is striking: the beast-coalition appears overwhelming, yet the Lamb — the symbol of vulnerability — overcomes because of who he is, not the size of his army. The verse encapsulates Revelation's entire theology of apparent weakness as ultimate power and has sustained believers facing seemingly invincible opposition throughout history.
