Deuteronomy 16:11

KJV

And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place his name there.

Study Note

'And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you' — the feast-of-weeks inclusion list is one of the most comprehensive statements of celebratory equality in the Torah, extending covenantal festivity to social dependents, resident aliens, and the most vulnerable members of the community. The repeated inclusion of 'stranger, fatherless, and widow' across Deuteronomy's festival legislation establishes a pattern that Zechariah 7:9–10 summarizes as the essence of true worship: justice to the vulnerable is not distinct from liturgical celebration but intrinsic to it.
