Abdi

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Levi · H5660G
Old Testament

Abdi, a Levite, was an ancestor of Ethan, one of the musicians appointed by David to serve in the temple.

Abdi was a Levite of the clan of Merari, son of Malluch and father of Kishi, and thus an ancestor of Ethan, one of the chief musicians appointed by David to lead worship at the tabernacle (1 Chronicles 6:44). He belongs to the genealogical line that connected the Levitical musicians back to the original assignments of the wilderness period. Though Abdi appears only in the genealogical record, his lineage underscores the continuity of the Levitical musical tradition from Moses through David's reign.
