Amnon

Amnon was a son of Shimon and a descendant of Judah through the Calebite clan, mentioned in the genealogy of 1 Chronicles 4:20. He should be distinguished from the far more prominent Amnon son of David by Ahinoam of Jezreel—David's firstborn—who raped his half-sister Tamar and was subsequently murdered by Absalom in revenge (2 Samuel 13). The Amnon of 1 Chronicles 4 is simply a genealogical figure with no narrative role, but the name's association with the tragic episode of David's family may explain its relative rarity in later usage.
