Elah was a son of Caleb and the father of Kenaz.

Elah was a son of Caleb—the Calebite hero of the wilderness generation—and the father of Kenaz, listed in the genealogy of Judah in 1 Chronicles 4:15. He belongs to the prominent Calebite lineage within the tribe of Judah that produced many of the settlers of the southern hill country around Hebron and Debir. His genealogical position connects him to the heroic generation of the conquest while pointing forward to the Kenizzite clans within Judah.
