father of Lazarus

The father of Lazarus, Mary, and Martha — the siblings of Bethany — is not named in the Gospel accounts, though Luke 10:38 introduces the household in connection with a woman named Martha. John 11–12 describes the deep friendship between Jesus and this family, and Jesus's raising of Lazarus from the dead is presented as a pivotal sign in John's Gospel leading directly to the authorities' decision to arrest Jesus.
