Gatam

Patriarchs (Abraham–Joseph) Edom · H1609
Old Testament

Gatam was a son of Eliphaz, grandson of Esau, and one of the chiefs of Edom.

Gatam was a chief of Edom, listed in Genesis 36:16 and 1 Chronicles 1:36 among the sons of Eliphaz, who was the firstborn son of Esau. He belonged to the first generation of Edomite chieftains whose clans settled the land of Seir and became the ancestors of the Edomite nation. His name and those of his brothers represent the early ethnic and territorial diversity of the Edomite tribal confederation east and south of the Dead Sea.
