Gemalli

Exodus & Wilderness > · H1582
Old Testament

Gemalli was the father of Ammiel, who represented the tribe of Dan as one of the twelve spies sent to explore Canaan.

Gemalli was the father of Ammiel, the representative spy from the tribe of Dan sent by Moses to reconnoiter the land of Canaan (Numbers 13:12). He is known solely through this patronymic, as his son was among the twelve scouts who spent forty days in Canaan before returning with their report. The majority report brought back by Ammiel and most of his companions precipitated the crisis of faith that condemned Israel to forty years in the wilderness.
