Gog

Exodus & Wilderness Tribe of Reuben · H1463G
Old Testament

Gog, a descendant of Reuben, is mentioned in the genealogy of Reuben in 1Ch.5.4.

Gog son of Joel and grandson of Shemaiah was a Reubenite clan chief who lived during the period before the Exile, recorded in 1 Chronicles 5:4. He is distinct from the apocalyptic Gog of Magog prophesied in Ezekiel 38–39 and Revelation 20, though the two may share a common symbolic significance in the prophetic tradition. His inclusion in the Reubenite genealogy preserves the tribal memory of one of Israel's earliest and most troubled clans.
