The Hararites were a group from which some of David's mighty men came, including Shammah and Ahiam.
The Hararites were a group of warriors among David's mighty men identified by their place of origin in the hill country (har, meaning 'mountain'), mentioned in 2 Samuel 23:11, 33 and 1 Chronicles 11:34–35. Shammah the Hararite was one of David's three greatest warriors, who single-handedly defended a plot of lentils against a Philistine raiding party (2 Samuel 23:11–12). The Hararite designation suggests these warriors came from the mountainous region of Judah or possibly from Harar, a specific location whose exact identification remains uncertain.
