Hashabiah was a musician in the temple, one of the sons of Jeduthun.
Hashabiah was a Levite musician from the family of Merari, listed in 1 Chronicles 25:3, 19 as one of the sons of Jeduthun who prophesied with the lyre in thanksgiving and praise. He was appointed to lead the twelfth course of the twenty-four musical divisions established by David for the temple. The name Hashabiah is also borne by numerous other Levites in the Chronicles and Ezra-Nehemiah literature, reflecting its popularity as a Levitical name during the monarchic and post-exilic periods.
