Hemam

Patriarchs (Abraham–Joseph) Edom · H1950
Old Testament

Hemam was a descendant of Seir the Horite, mentioned in the genealogies of Esau.

Hemam (also called Homam in 1 Chronicles 1:39) was a son of Lotan and a Horite chieftain listed in Genesis 36:22 in the genealogy of the Seir the Horite. His mother Timna, also named in this verse, is the same Timna who appears as the concubine of Esau's son Eliphaz and the mother of Amalek (Genesis 36:12). The Horites were the pre-Edomite inhabitants of the land of Seir whose clans are carefully recorded in Genesis 36 as part of the ethnographic tradition of the region.
