Ithmah

Divided Kingdom Moab · H3495
Old Testament

Ithmah the Moabite was one of the mighty warriors in David's army.

Ithmah the Moabite was one of David's celebrated mighty warriors, listed in the extended roster of elite fighters in 1 Chronicles 11:46. His Moabite origin is notable, as it reflects the international character of David's military corps, which included warriors from Moab, Ammon, and the Transjordanian peoples. Like Ruth the Moabitess before him, Ithmah illustrates that foreigners who cast their lot with Israel could achieve honored standing within the community.
