Jehozadak (or Jozadak) was the father of Joshua, the high priest who returned from the Babylonian exile and helped rebuild the temple.
Jehozadak (also spelled Jozadak or Josedech) was a high priest who was taken into Babylonian exile when Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 6:15). He was the son of Seraiah, the last high priest before the exile (2 Kings 25:18–21), and the father of Joshua (also called Jeshua), who returned from Babylon with Zerubbabel and served as the first high priest of the restored community (Ezra 3:2; Haggai 1:1; Zechariah 3:1). Though Jehozadak himself died in exile, his son's return and service as high priest represented the continuity of the Aaronic priesthood through the period of Babylonian captivity.
