Joshbekashah

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Levi · H3436
Old Testament

Joshbekashah, one of Heman's sons, was a musician appointed by King David to lead worship.

Joshbekashah son of Heman was a Levite musician appointed by King David as one of the twenty-four leaders of sacred song for the temple (1 Chronicles 25:4, 24). His division—the seventeenth—was assigned by lot for the rotation of temple worship. Heman's fourteen sons who led musical divisions collectively represent the visionary, prophetic dimension of temple music, and their names together form a poetic line. Joshbekashah is known only from this liturgical assignment.
