Malchiel

Malchiel was a son of Beriah and a grandson of Asher, the founder of the Malchielite clan within the tribe of Asher (Genesis 46:17; Numbers 26:45; 1 Chronicles 7:31). He descended with Jacob into Egypt as part of the seventy who went down with the patriarch. His son was Birzaith, and his clan was numbered among the Asherite clans in the wilderness census. His descendants settled in the coastal plain and Galilee allotted to Asher during the conquest.
