Mareshah, a son of Mesha, was the father and re-founder of Hebron.
Mareshah son of Caleb son of Hezron was a Judahite ancestor of Hebron in the tribal genealogy of 1 Chronicles 2:42, identified as the 'father of Hebron'—meaning the founder or progenitor of the prominent city. The town of Hebron was one of the most significant cities in Judah, associated with Abraham's burial place, David's early capital, and the priestly cities. Mareshah is distinct from the town of Mareshah in the Shephelah and from Laadah son of Shelah who is also called 'father of Mareshah' in 1 Chronicles 4:21.
