Nadab

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Judah · H5070I
Old Testament

Nadab was a son of Shammai, mentioned in the genealogy of the tribe of Judah.

Nadab son of Shammai was a descendant of Judah through the Jerahmeelite branch, and the father of Seled and Appaim (1 Chronicles 2:28). He belongs to the extended genealogy of Judah's descendants that fills much of 1 Chronicles 2, recording the territorial and familial expansion of the tribe of Judah in the hill country and Negev. Several other men named Nadab appear in the Old Testament, including Aaron's eldest son (Leviticus 10) and the second king of the northern kingdom (1 Kings 15:25–31); this Judahite Nadab is distinct from both.
