Nahbi

Exodus & Wilderness > · H5147
Old Testament

Nahbi, the son of Vophsi, was the representative from the tribe of Naphtali among the twelve spies sent to explore Canaan.

Nahbi son of Vophsi was the representative of the tribe of Naphtali among the twelve spies whom Moses sent to reconnoiter the land of Canaan (Numbers 13:14). He returned with the majority report that declared the land unconquerable due to the strength of its inhabitants and the presence of the Nephilim. As one of the ten who discouraged the people, Nahbi was among those whose negative report led to the forty-year wandering in the wilderness. He died in the plague that struck those who opposed the divine purpose (Numbers 14:37).
