Rizpah was a concubine of King Saul and the mother of Armoni and Mephibosheth, who were executed by the Gibeonites.
Rizpah was a concubine of King Saul and the daughter of Aiah, whose sons by Saul—Armoni and Mephibosheth—were among the seven Saulides handed over to the Gibeonites in expiation for Saul's violation of the ancient covenant (2 Samuel 21:8–11). Her poignant vigil over the exposed bodies of her sons, keeping birds and beasts away, moved David to provide proper burial for Saul's household and prompted divine relief from the famine that had afflicted Israel.
