Zaccur was a Merarite Levite, one of the sons of Jaaziah, assigned to serve in the organization of the temple ministries during David's reign (1 Chronicles 24:27). Several other men named Zaccur appear in the biblical record, including a Reubenite father of one of the twelve spies (Numbers 13:4), a Simeonite (1 Chronicles 4:26), a Levitical musician son of Asaph (1 Chronicles 25:2, 10), and several post-exilic figures in Nehemiah (3:2; 10:12; 13:13). This particular Zaccur is known only from the Levitical organizational lists.
