Zerahiah (or Ahitub), a priest, was an ancestor of Ezra the scribe.
Zerahiah (or Ahitub in some textual traditions) was a priest in the Aaronite genealogy, the son of Uzzi and father of Meraioth, listed in the sacerdotal lines of 1 Chronicles 6:6 and Ezra 7:4. He stands in the Zadokite priestly lineage that connects Aaron through Phinehas, Abishua, Bukki, Uzzi, and Zerahiah down toward the Exile. A second Zerahiah appears in Ezra 8:4 as the father of Eliehoenai, a returnee from Babylon in the time of Ezra.
