Old Testament

Zibiah, from Beersheba, was the mother of King Joash (or 'Jehoash') of Judah.

Zibiah was a woman from Beersheba who became the wife of King Ahaziah of Judah and the mother of his successor, King Joash (Jehoash) of Judah (2 Kings 12:1; 2 Chronicles 24:1). Her name is recorded in the standard regnal formula that introduces Joash's reign, preserving her hometown in the deep south of Judah. As the mother of the king who repaired the temple and was later assassinated by his servants, Zibiah's place in the Davidic genealogy carries historical significance.
