Hamartiologie

The theological study of sin — its origin, nature, effects, and remedy. Sin entered the world through Adam's disobedience (Genesis 3; Romans 5:12). The Bible describes sin as missing the mark (hamartia), transgression of God's law (1 John 3:4), rebellion against God (Isaiah 1:2), and unbelief (John 16:9). Sin corrupts every aspect of human nature — mind, will, emotions, and body (Romans 3:10-18). Its consequences include spiritual death (Romans 6:23), broken relationships (Genesis 3:7-13), and cosmic disorder (Romans 8:20-22). The gospel proclaims that Christ has conquered sin through his death and resurrection.
