The verse draws verbatim from Exodus 15:2 ('the Lord is my strength and my song'), consciously evoking the Song of the Sea after the Exodus as a template for the new salvation Isaiah envisions. The explicit naming of 'Jah, Jehovah' as 'my strength and my song' is one of the most compact divine-name confessions in the Hebrew Bible. The personal pronoun throughout ('my salvation,' 'I will trust') insists that prophetic promise must become individual appropriation. This verse supplied the title and refrain for countless Christian hymns of confidence and is a staple of Jewish morning liturgy.
