Bichri

United Kingdom Tribe of Benjamin · H1075
Old Testament

Bichri, a Benjamite, was the father of Sheba, who led a rebellion against King David.

Bichri was a Benjamite, known in the biblical record as the father of Sheba, who led a revolt against King David following the suppression of Absalom's rebellion (2 Samuel 20:1). Sheba son of Bichri rallied the northern tribes with the cry 'We have no portion in David,' nearly fracturing the newly reunited kingdom. Joab pursued Sheba to the city of Abel Beth-maacah, where the inhabitants beheaded Sheba and threw his head over the wall to end the rebellion. Bichri is remembered solely as the father of this would-be usurper.
