daughter2 of Lot

Patriarchs (Abraham–Joseph) Early Patriarch · H3876I
Old Testament

Lot's unnamed younger daughter, who bore Ben-ammi after the destruction of Sodom.

Lot's younger daughter, unnamed in Genesis 19, shared her sister's plan to preserve their father's lineage after the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah by making Lot drunk on successive nights and lying with him (Genesis 19:30–38). She bore a son named Ben-ammi, who became the ancestor of the Ammonite people — a nation that, like the Moabites, maintained an ethnically related but often hostile relationship with Israel. The narrative etiologically explains the origins of two of Israel's Transjordanian neighbors.
