Hashabneiah

Hashabneiah was the father of Hattush, who repaired a section of Jerusalem's walls under Nehemiah's direction (Nehemiah 3:10). He is mentioned only in this patronymic reference, his identity preserved through his son's active participation in the restoration of Jerusalem. The rebuilding of the walls was a communal effort that drew on every available family, and Hashabneiah's family made its contribution through Hattush's labor.
