The husband of Shimeath the Ammonitess, unnamed in the biblical text, was the father of Jozachar (or Zabad), one of the two servants who assassinated King Joash of Judah in his bed at Beth-millo (2 Kings 12:21; 2 Chronicles 24:26). The text identifies the assassins by their mothers' names and ethnic backgrounds rather than their fathers', which is unusual and may indicate the mothers were more prominent than their unnamed husbands in the social memory of the event.
