Igal

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Judah · H3008I
Old Testament

Igal was a descendant of King David, mentioned in the genealogy of David's descendants through his son Jeconiah.

Igal was a descendant of David through the royal line preserved after the Babylonian exile, listed in 1 Chronicles 3:22 as a son of Shemaiah and a grandson of Shechaniah. He was one of five brothers in this post-exilic generation of the Davidic family. His name was also borne by one of the twelve spies sent to scout Canaan, Igal son of Joseph from the tribe of Issachar (Numbers 13:7), a distinct individual from an earlier period.
