Old Testament

Imlah was the father of Micaiah, a prophet who spoke the truth to King Ahab of Israel, despite the king's displeasure.

Imlah was the father of Micaiah, the prophet who boldly declared the truth to King Ahab of Israel when four hundred court prophets predicted victory at Ramoth-gilead (1 Kings 22:8–9; 2 Chronicles 18:7–8). Ahab famously remarked that he hated Micaiah 'because he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil.' Imlah is known only as the father of this courageous prophet, whose willingness to speak an unpopular word at the cost of imprisonment made him one of the memorable figures of prophetic literature.
