Linus, a Christian in Rome to whom Paul sent greetings.

Linus was a Christian in Rome who sent greetings along with Pudens, Claudia, and 'all the brothers' to Timothy in Paul's second letter (2 Timothy 4:21). According to the early church father Irenaeus and the Liber Pontificalis, this Linus was the first bishop of Rome after Peter, though the identification cannot be confirmed from the New Testament alone. His inclusion in Paul's greetings suggests he was a well-known figure in the Roman church during Paul's final imprisonment.
