Melquisedec
Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of God Most High, who blessed Abraham.
Melchizedek was the king of Salem and a priest of God Most High (El Elyon) who met Abraham returning from the defeat of the four kings and blessed him, receiving a tithe of everything in return (Genesis 14:18–20). His name means 'king of righteousness' and his title 'king of Salem' implies 'king of peace,' interpretations developed in Hebrews 7. He appears in only one other Old Testament passage—Psalm 110:4, where God swears that the Davidic king will be 'a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.' The Letter to the Hebrews (chapters 5–7) develops this psalm extensively to argue that Jesus is a high priest superior to the Levitical order, whose priesthood is eternal and whose sacrifice is once for all, surpassing Aaron's descendants as Melchizedek surpassed Abraham.
