Talmai

Talmai was the king of Geshur, a small Aramean kingdom east of the Jordan, and the father of Maacah, one of David's wives who became the mother of Absalom (2 Samuel 3:3; 13:37). When Absalom murdered his half-brother Amnon, he fled to his maternal grandfather Talmai in Geshur, where he remained for three years before Joab engineered his return to Jerusalem. The relationship between Geshur and Israel through this marriage reflects the diplomatic marriages common in the ancient Near East.
