Timon was one of the seven men chosen by the apostles to oversee the daily distribution of food to widows in the early church.
Timon was one of the seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and wisdom, who were selected by the Jerusalem congregation to oversee the daily distribution of food to the Hellenist widows, relieving the apostles for their ministry of prayer and the word (Acts 6:5). Church tradition identifies him as one of the Seventy disciples and assigns to him subsequent missionary work, but such details are not found in the New Testament. He is named only in this single verse in Acts.
