Old Testament

Tobadonijah was a Levite sent by King Jehoshaphat to teach the Book of the Law in the cities of Judah.

Tobadonijah was a Levite included in the teaching mission commissioned by King Jehoshaphat of Judah in his third year, when the king sent officials, Levites, and priests throughout the cities of Judah to instruct the people in the Book of the Law (2 Chronicles 17:8). This educational initiative is presented as one of the hallmarks of Jehoshaphat's piety and his effort to establish covenant faithfulness throughout the kingdom. Tobadonijah is mentioned only in this verse and is known solely by his participation in this reform.
