Old Testament

Uzziah was in charge of King David's storehouses.

Uzziah (also called Azariah) was the tenth king of Judah, reigning approximately 791–740 BC in a long and largely successful reign. He rebuilt Elath, conducted military campaigns against the Philistines, Arabs, and Meunites, and strengthened Jerusalem's defenses with towers and catapult-like siege engines (2 Chronicles 26:1–15). The prophet Isaiah received his inaugural vision in the year of Uzziah's death (Isaiah 6:1), suggesting the king's long stability had shaped the prophet's world. Pride in his successes led Uzziah to attempt to burn incense in the temple—a priestly prerogative—and when priests confronted him he was struck with leprosy on his forehead, living the remainder of his life in quarantine (2 Chronicles 26:16–21).
