The Zemarites were a Canaanite people group mentioned in the Table of Nations.
The Zemarites were a Canaanite people group listed in the Table of Nations as descendants of Canaan, son of Ham (Genesis 10:18; 1 Chronicles 1:16). They are generally identified with the town of Sumur (or Simyra) on the northern Phoenician coast, mentioned in the Amarna Letters and Assyrian texts. Like the other Canaanite groups in the Table, the Zemarites appear in the genealogical record as part of the original population of the pre-Israelite Levant.
