Juan el Bautista

Fierce anger, attributed both to God and humans but with very different characters. God's wrath is his holy, just response to sin — 'the wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people' (Romans 1:18). It is never capricious or selfish. Human wrath, by contrast, is often sinful: James 1:20 states that 'human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.' Proverbs 29:22 warns, 'An angry person stirs up conflict, and a hot-tempered person commits many sins.' Ephesians 4:31 commands putting away all wrath. The gospel reveals that Christ bore God's wrath so believers might receive mercy (Romans 5:9).
