Note d'étude

Study Note

'Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.' The triple preparation (true heart, sprinkled conscience, washed body) echoes the priestly rites of Leviticus 16 and Exodus 29, applying the high-priestly inauguration ceremonies to every believer's approach to God. Hebrews thus democratizes the Holiest: what once only the high priest could do once a year (Yom Kippur) is now the daily privilege of every blood-cleansed worshipper. The 'full assurance of faith' (plērophoria pisteōs) is not arrogance but confidence rooted in the efficacy of Christ's single offering, described in Hebrews 10:10-14.
