Study Note

The oracle of the 'mountain of the LORD's house' lifted above all mountains — a vision repeated verbatim in Micah 4:1 — projects an eschatological pilgrimage of all nations to Zion for divine instruction. The imagery inverts the normal pattern of conquest: instead of Israel going out to the nations, the nations stream willingly to Jerusalem, attracted by the reputation of YHWH's justice and Torah. The 'last days' (acharit ha-yamim) formula indicates eschatological time, a category that the New Testament applies to the age of the Spirit inaugurated at Pentecost (Acts 2:17; Hebrews 1:2). The passage undergirds biblical theology's universalistic strand: particular election culminates in universal blessing.
